Indigo Partners Signs MOU for 430 Airbus A320neo Family Aircraft

Low-priced airline Wizz Air made the scale of its ambitions clear on Wednesday as it announced an order for 146 new Airbus planes, taking its total outstanding orders with the European aerospace company to 282.

The order, worth $49.5bn at list prices, comprises 273 A320neos and 157 A321neos and will be spread between Indigo's four airlines.

"This significant commitment for 430 additional aircraft underscores our optimistic view of the growth potential of our family of low-priced airlines, as well as our confidence in the A320neo Family as a platform for that growth", said Bill Franke, Managing Partner of Indigo Partners.

Airbus SE is close to agreeing a blockbuster order worth more than $40 billion at list prices to sell around 400 aircraft to USA -based investment fund Indigo Partners, founded by low-priced airline pioneer Bill Franke, two sources said.

The next-step technology aircraft will enable us to continue to lower our operating costs as we drive towards our goal of Wizz Air being the lowest fare and lowest unit cost airline in Europe.

It is biggest ever order for Airbus and will more than double the value of the company's sales for the year.

Indigo Partners' Bill Franke indicated that engine selections will be made and announced at a later date.
