EA Tweaks Need For Speed: Payback's Progression System, But Is It Enough?

The latest update, which went live over the weekend, has increased REP (progression points) and Bank (in-game money) payouts in pretty much every way.

This comes shortly after EA chose to temporarily remove microtransactions from Star Wars Battlefront 2 due to a huge backlash from the community.

You can view the entire changelog below, but the gist is that you now get more in-game XP for playing, which results in more rewards. According to the studio, these changes will be based on the community feedback and players' in-game data. If you finish an event outside first place your reward is slightly increased too, and Air Suspension will appear more frequently in Shipments. Need for Speed Payback also leans heavily on loot boxes and in-game purchases, but it seems changes are coming.

It will be interesting to see whether EA will be able further improve/adjust Need for Speed Payback's microtransactions.

EA has been in the news for all the wrong reasons lately, and this time it surrounds Need For Speed Payback's progression and microtransactions.

Increased the amount of Bank awarded by taking part in events. "Our aim with these changes is to make the progression, especially around the ownership of cars a much more enjoyable experience".

Borussia Dortmund want "reaction" from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
A strong result will help Tottenham's collective mind frame going into a must-win match with West Brom on Saturday. It is so important that the team has stepped up: in the Premier League we are in a very good position.

Bait crates now reward increased REP. "Need For Speed Payback is several bad ideas on four wheels, a drab racer whose potential is rear-ended by an underhanded upgrade system and a story that belongs in a direct-to-DVD bargain bin".

The main changes the developers implemented include increasing the amount of REP and Bank awarded to players for each event. Tune-up shops are next on the list of things to fix - specifically "the quality / level of parts they stock".

Bait crates now reward increased Bank.

Today's changes are just phase one.

Competing against a Roaming Racer will reward you with increased Bank.

Ghost Games increases amount of REP and bank gained from taking part in events.
