Pradyuman Murder case: Ashok Kumar granted Bail

The bus conductor first accused of Pradyuman Thakur, a class II student of Ryan International School in Bhondsi, Gurgaon, has been granted bail.

Additional District and Session Judge Rajni Yadav granted bail to Ashok on furnishing a Rs 50,000 bail bond.

"The bail was granted under Article 21 of the Constitution". We were given benefit of doubt, " Anil Sharma, the lawyer of bus conductor Ashok said. Ashok Kumar was arrested by the Gurugram police on September 8, the same day the seven-year-old Pradyuman was found dead with his throat slit inside the school's bathroom.

The incident sparked a public outcry after which Gurugram police arrested Ashok, alleging him of killing the second standard student. "CBI is conducting an inquiry and let us wait for the result".

A student from 11th class had been under suspicion of murdering Pradyuman, presumably in the hopes that his exams will be postponed.

Giving a clean chit to Kumar, the CBI further said that there's no evidence to show that the conductor is involved in the murder.

The court also decided not to change the jurisdiction and said the trial in the case will take place in the same court.

Within 24 hours, the police had declared Kumar as the accused and had even claimed to have solved the case, which sparked anger and protests in the area.

Ashoke's family has said that they will now file a case against the cops for planting evidence against him, reports said. There were a lot of differences between findings of CBI and Haryana Police.
