Tyronn Lue not anxious about minutes for LeBron James

Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue indicated that he is not planning to reduce LeBron James' minutes going forward.

At almost 33 years old, LeBron James is averaging 37.9 minutes. However, Lue is apparently not overly concerned. "I played with Michael Jordan when he was 39 he played 37 minutes a night". Karl Malone was 37, played 38 minutes a night. "Everybody's built differently. If you're one of the greats, sometimes you've got to play". Came into the night, once again leading the National Basketball Association in both total minutes played and minutes per game, like last year, the year before, the year before, the year before, the year before, the year before, the year before, not to mention, he plays all those playoff minutes.

It was just the 16th time in James' 15-year career that he logged 27 minutes or less in a game, according to When Lue was asked about it in pregame he seemed exhausted by the question.

Still, the 33-year-old downplayed the drop in minutes and highlighted the importance of securing the victory. In seven games this season for the Cavaliers, Calderon is now averaging just 6.7 minutes per contest, scoring 1.0 point per game and dishing out 0.7 assists.

Indeed, it's not the Cavs' plan to play LeBron so much, but he gives them their best chance to win when he's on the court. "It's a pretty big step for us".

The Cavs (10-7) will look to extend their five-game hot streak when they host the Nets on Thursday morning (AEDT). The team opted to start veteran Jose Calderon on Tuesday, who scored a season-high 14 points in a season-high 28 minutes.

"I just wanted to keep the pedal down", James said. "There weren't any lapses, there weren't any letups throughout the game. It was one of those games where we kind of put it all together".
