NJ woman raises more than $90000 for charitable homeless man

A New Jersey woman is hoping to repay a homeless man's act of kindness with one of her own.

His name is Johnny, and he's a Marine Corps veteran.

Johnny told her to get back in her auto because the area was "unsafe", then walked to a nearby gas station and reportedly used his last 20 dollars to buy her gas. He was carrying a red container full of gasoline that he spent his last $20 on. A few minutes later, McClure said Johnny returned with a red gas can, having used his last $20 to buy fuel for her vehicle.

As well as setting up the crowd funding page for him, Ms McClure has frequently returned to visit Mr Bobbitt Jnr with gifts of food and clothing.

"That's when I met Johnny. he saw me pull over and knew something was wrong".

"I pulled over as far as I could, and got out of the auto to head to the nearest gas station".

So far the campaign has raised over $75, 000 United States dollars ($109,122 NZD) in 12 days, despite only being set up with a $10,000 ($14,549 NZD) goal.

"I$3 truly believe that all Johnny needs is one little break", she wrote.

"Johnny did not ask me for a dollar, and I couldn't repay him at that moment because I didn't have any cash, but I have been stopping by his spot for the past few weeks", McClure wrote.
