Notre Dame Remains No

Alabama, who has been the top team in the AP poll all year, in ranked in the top spot of the College Football Playoff rankings for a second-consecutive week. The victor plays Georgia.

Miami beat Virginia 44-28 at home Saturday while Clemson beat FCS team The Citadel 61-3. "Miami has been gaining momentum", he said.

The easiest decision of the week for the committee was to keep the Alabama Crimson Tide at No. 1.

Although there is some concern within the Sooner Nation with Wisconsin undefeated and lurking immediately behind OU in the Playoff order, the general consensus among those in the know in college football is that if Oklahoma wins out - meaning defeating West Virginia this weekend and beating TCU in a rematch in the Big 12 title game - the Sooners will be fine and among the Final Four.

The biggest change in the Top 10 came between the two ACC schools in the top four, as the Miami leaped Clemson to reach No. 2 and the Tigers fell to No. 3. The victor plays Georgia next week in the SEC Championship game.

The SEC champion is pretty much a lock to get in. The Crimson Tide has been the most dominant team all season, rarely challenged on the field.

The rankings mean that if the season were to end this week, Alabama and Oklahoma would play in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, while Clemson and Miami would play in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.

The next team that can help clear things up for the committee is Wisconsin. The biggest losers in this scenario would be a potentially 2-loss Georgia team and a potentially 2-loss Penn State team.

Alabama remains in the top spot thanks to a 56-0 drubbing of Mercer, which moves it to 11-0 on the season.

Wisconsin can also eliminate Ohio State and its 31-point loss to Iowa. There is no way that the Playoff Committee will have two teams in the same conference be in the Playoff.

The Badgers defeated MI, 24-10, on Saturday, and no teams in the top 12 lost over the weekend. Notre Dame was No. 3 just a few weeks ago, but a 41-8 road loss to Miami has seen them drop all the way to No. 8.
