Ted Lanier, former president of Carolina Bank in Sanford, has been working with the Lee County kettle program since its inception 25 years ago.

The official kickoff for this year took place Wednesday morning at Lowe's Foods on Spring Lane, and ringing will continue until Christmas Eve.
