Android 8.1 Developer Preview 2 Now Available!

Also, for Pixel 2 users, the Android 8.1 update on these devices enables Pixel Visual Core - Google's first custom-designed co-processor for image processing and ML - through a new developer option.

The secret photography chip inside of Pixel 2 is called Pixel Visual Core, and is the first processor designed by Google in-house, with the search giant also having some help from Intel.

Additionally, Android 8.1 Oreo will bring the new Neural Networks API (NNAPI) which allows for on-device machine learning operations.

While the second and final developer preview of Android 8.1 Oreo is now released, the final version of 8.1 Oreo is slated to roll out to all the users next month.

Syria war: Russian Federation denies bombing civilians in Deir al-Zour village
More than 340,000 people have been killed in Syria since the conflict began in March 2011 with anti-government protests. The United States, Turkey, and Gulf nations have backed opposition fighters.

This preview update includes near-final Android 8.1 system images for Pixel and Nexus devices, with official APIs (API level 27), the latest optimizations and bug fixes, and the November 2017 security patch updates said Google in the blog post.

While many consumers are still waiting to receive Android 8.0 Oreo, only a few will soon be able to update to a much newer version - Android 8.1 Oreo.

The dedicated imaging chip will now let Pixel 2 devices speed up the process of capturing shots with Google HDR+ on camera apps using the right API. If you're not a developer, we suggest you wait for the full release that should be coming shortly. The good news is if you're a Pixel/Nexus users, you'll soon get Android 8.1 Oreo on your device. Considering HDR+ is already plenty fast on the Pixel 2, I hope Google actually uses the extra processing power to make photos even better than they already are.
