IOS 11.2 update brings Apple Pay Cash, faster wireless charging

Apple released iOS 11.2 earlier than expected due to a weird date bug that started crashing some iPhones on 2 December 2017. The major update for iPhone and iPad comes a month after the release of iOS 11.1. The update also introduces Apple Pay Cash, Apple's person-to-person payment system on iMessage, but sadly, the feature is only available for folks in the U.S.

Apple also fixes an issue that could cause Mail to appear to be checking for new messages even when a download is complete along with the issue that could cause cleared Mail notifications from Exchange accounts to reappear. Check out the detailed changelog below.

Some users of Apple's priciest iPhone were complaining that Face ID stopped working on iOS 11.2. However, the feature is available in the United States only. Apart from this, the update also brings faster 7.5W wireless charging support for iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X through Qi-based wireless charging pads.

The update improves stability in Calendar, resolves an issue where Settings could open to a blank screen and fixes an issue that could prevent swiping to Today View or Camera from the Lock Screen.

As for the rest of the features that this update brings, you have three new Live wallpapers, improvements in the video stabilization, support to automatically advance to the next episode of the same show in Podcasts and includes downhill snow sports distance as a data type in HealthKit.

Apple would fix the Face ID issue formally in the next iOS update.

The iOS 11.2 update is available is on all eligible devices on the Setting App. iPhone 5s and later, the iPad Mini 2 and later, the iPad Air and later, and the 6th generation iPod touch. Apple has released iOS 11.2 which is available for iPhone, iPad, and iPad Touch.
