Amazon Prime Video finally reaches Apple TV

To date, Amazon's video service has not been available on Apple TV, unlike other popular third-party services such as Netflix and Hulu.

Apple promised that the Amazon Prime Video app was coming to the Apple TV earlier in the year. It starts on Amazon Prime Video on Friday 8 December and will run for 13 episodes in total, with one added to the streaming platform each subsequent Friday. With this addition of the Amazon Prime Video app on the Apple TV, it ends a long standoff between Amazon and Apple.

You can download Prime Video from the App Store for free here.

Amazon stopped selling Apple TV in the fall of 2015 after Bezos said he didn't want his customers to buy a device that wasn't compatible with Amazon's video app. Once you've installed it on your Apple TV, you can browse without logging in, but unsurprisingly, to watch anything, you'll need to sign in to your Amazon account.

It allows Amazon Prime members to stream a wide array of movies and TV shows, including exclusive content created by Amazon Studios such as The Grand Tour and The Man in the High Castle. The best way to find it, notes 9 to 5 Mac, is to search Amazon in the tvOS store, select Amazon Shopping then scroll down in the "more by this developer" section. Apple could be rolling it out slowly so it may take some time before it reaches your TV.
