The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz received at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Wednesday Russian Special Presidential Envoy for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Saudi authorities arrested dozens of royals, businessmen and senior government officials on November 4. Other high-profile targets of the crackdown include billionaire Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, dubbed the Warren Buffett of Saudi Arabia.

"Most detainees faced with corruption allegations by the committee agreed to a settlement", he said in a statement on Tuesday. In a statement, the public prosecutor said a total of 320 people had been subpoenaed to provide information about alleged graft while 159 remain in detention and "a number" of them have been referred for judicial action.

Numerous detainees are being held at Riyadh's 5-star Ritz Carlton, which has been out of bounds to other guests since the crackdown started.

Sheikh Al Mujib said the Saudi central bank has frozen the personal accounts of 376 people linked to the investigation "as a precautionary measure".

The prince hopes to recover much of the US$100bn that the attorney general said was "misused through systematic corruption and embezzlement over several decades". But Saudi authorities insist the purge was meant exclusively to target endemic corruption as the kingdom seeks to diversify its oil-dependent economy.
