Redmi 5A launched in Coimbatore by Xiaomi

With Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus smartphones launch around the corner, the Chinese manufacturer is in overdrive to promote the smartphone. While the handsets have been leaked in full glory in the past days, the latest information leaked on an e-commerce site reveals the pricing of the new phones.

As said before and now in the listing also, the smartphones would sport an 18:9 aspect ratio.

Xiaomi's smartphones, especially the affordable ones, gain a lot of attention, and the new Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus are touted as budget-friendly devices. Similarly, the Redmi 5 Plus is pegged at $249.99 (approximately Rs. 16,120) for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage option, the listing revealed. And both are powered by Android with Xiaomi's MIUI skinning. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 625 SoC or Snapdragon 630 SoC and will be offered in two variants - 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage. The Redmi 5 Plus will feature a 5.9-inch Full HD+ display with 1080 x 2160 resolution. The chipset will be Snapdragon 450 - a 14nm process unit with octa-core CPU and Adreno 506 GPU. The Redmi 5 Plus is expected to be bigger than this.

While the next-gen Redmi smartphone is expected to come with a new design language and updated hardware, past reports suggests the cameras will not see a major bump.

The Congress is also hoping to bridge a gap of nearly 9 per cent vote share, the difference that led the BJP to victory in 2012. The latest poll, conducted between November 23 and 30, had a sample size of 3,655 people, covering 50 assembly constituencies.

Xiaomi earlier this week released images of the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus ahead of their December 7 launch, giving us a pretty good look at the design of the upcoming budget phones.

The Xiaomi device should be launch in three different storage options, which includes 2GB RAM variant with 16GB storage, 3GB RAM variant with 32GB storage and also with 4GB RAM variant supporting 64GB internal storage.

The Redmi 5 is expected to feature a 3,200 mAh, while the Redmi 5 Plus is said to pack in a 4,000 mAh battery. It is expected to sport a 12-megapixel sensor on the back and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
