Didn't mean 'low-born' when I said 'neech', clarifies Aiyar

On the other hand, Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar on Thursday referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a "neech aadmi" (low-minded person) for appropriating Babasaheb Ambedkar into his election campaign for the imminent assembly polls in Gujarat.

Asked about Rahul Gandhi's tweet that he did not appreciate Aiyar's words to address the Prime Minister, Aiyar said he could talk about it only after meeting Gandhi. Congress has a different culture and heritage.

"The Congress has served a showcause notice to Mani Shankar Aiyar and suspended him from the primary membership of the party", Surjewala said.

"They can not bring themselves to terms with the fact that a person from a less privileged background became the Prime Minister of India".

Kelley, should have had his name and domestic violence conviction submitted to the National Criminal Information Center database. It now heads to the Senate, where it'll be more of an uphill battle given the 60-vote threshold.

"They called us donkeys, neech, gandi naali ke keede...the people of Gujarat will give a befitting reply to such derogatory language". He asked whether PM Modi would dare to act similarly. "I never meant low-born". So now, the darbaris (courtiers) of the Nehru-Gandhi family would call our PM neech (vile) for asking these questions?

Aiyar's comment came after the Prime Minister took a swipe at Rahul during the inauguration of the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre by calling the Congress' would be President a Shiva devotee. "They can keep their language, we will do our work", the PM said as reported by NDTV. While PM Modi construed Aiyar's remark as a casteist slur, the Congress too disassociated itself from the seemingly personal attack against the PM. Is this not an insult to Gujarat? There is a difference in English language between words "low" and "low-born". "As far as I am concerned the bulk of my remarks dealt with Modi's very, very nasty remarks about the Congress, particularly with Gandhi's relationship with Ambedkar". Aiyar's mindset is a "darbaari" one'.

"The Congress Party has challenged the weaker and backward sections of India by calling the Prime Minister as "neech".

Jaitley later told reporters that it was part of a Congress strategy to belittle the Prime Minister every day and then say "I will retract".
