Square Enix Confirms New Tomb Raider Game, Announcement Due Next Year

Square Enix is very excited to share some happy news with its fans: A new Tomb Raider game will launch in 2018. That's pretty much the extent of it though. One of them is the part where the company suggests that the game will be announced at a major event in 2018, which perhaps rules out a reveal during this year's PlayStation Experience. Of course, just because Square Enix is playing coy doesn't mean we don't have some insight about the title. If you take the first letter from each sentence, they spell out the word "Shadow". Camilla Luddington provided the voice and motion capture for the character in the game as well as its 2015 follow-up, Rise of the Tomb Raider. 'We simply can't wait to take you on Lara Croft's defining adventure'. We presume this will be Shadow of the Tomb Raider, though Square Enix has yet to confirm its official title. While the name wasn't confirmed, we do know we'll be continuing Lara Croft's adventure very soon.

While there are plenty of big gaming events that the statement could be hinting at, everything points to the release of the affirmation upcoming film remake Tomb Raider.

PSG? Barca? Hazard not afraid of any Champions League opponent for Chelsea
First legs will take place on February 13/14 and 20/21, with the second legs coming on March 6/7 and 13/14. Manchester United: Bayern Munich, Real Madrid , Juventus , Sevilla, Porto or Shakhtar Donetsk.

The quick turnaround between announcement and release date, as well as the new approach Square Enix alludes to makes me wonder if the new Tomb Raider game won't feature some kind of episodic release structure.
