Airtel And Intex Team-Up To Launch Three Entry-Level Smartphones

"The strategic tie-up with Airtel will help Intex offer very affordable smartphones that will accelerate the shift of feature phone users to smartphone without pinching the pocket", Nidhi Markanday, Director, Intex Technologies, said.

Intex Aqua Lions N1 smartphone was launched in December 2017. The partnership is part of Airtel's ongoing initiative to build a portfolio of ultra-affordable smartphones with carrier-bundled data benefits along with discounts in the form of cashbacks. But there's a catch.

Under the special plan, Airtel clients need to pay Rs 3,149 forthright for the handset, after which they are ordered to make 36 monthly recharges of Rs 169 each. Airtel's offer is made under their "Mera Pehla Smartphone" battle, for which they have now joined forces with Intex, to offer 4G mobile at a convincing cost of Rs 1649. For Aqua A4, it is Rs 3499. Intex has brought its already launched Intex Aqua S3 and Intex Aqua A4 under the offer.

The Intex Lions N1 comes with an effective price of Rs 1,649, while the Intex Aqua A4 and Aqua S3 are available at an effective price of Rs 1,999 and Rs 4,379 respectively.

As for the specs of these new phones, here's everything the Intex phones have to offer. It has 2-megapixel cameras on the back and front and the phone features 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage, expandable to up to 128GB. People willget a refund of Rs 500 after 18 months, and another Rs 1000 after completion of 36 months. The phone is backed by a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via micro SD card slot. It is powered by a quad-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.1 GHz coupled with 1 GB RAM. The rear camera is of 2-megapixel and a 0.3-megapixel camera on the front.

The Intex Aqua Lions N1 runs Android 7.0 and is powered by a 1400mAh removable battery. It supports 4G VoLTE calling and includes connectivity features like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, and 3.5mm audio jack.

The Intex Aqua A4 comes at an effective price of Rs 1999 (compared to market price of Rs 4999). Users can access all apps on Google Play Store, including YouTube, Facebook and WhatsApp on the devices.

"Their (Intex's) brand familiarity plus distribution reach will add to our affordable smartphone proposition,"Ajai Puri, chief operating officer (India and South Asia), Bharti Airtel, said". All the three smartphones also come preloaded with the MyAirtel App, Airtel TV, and Wynk Music to offer a great self-serve and content experience to customers.
