IDF Retaliates with Tank Fire for Gaza Rockets; No Injuries

Two rockets launched at Israel from the Gaza Strip triggered air raid alarms in the area of the southern city of Sderot at approximately 7 p.m. local time.

The Israel Defense Forces carried out strikes against Hamas positions in the Gaza Strip on Thursday evening.

It's not yet clear if there were any casualties in either attack.

Haniyya called on the Palestinian government "to support the armed resistance factions, to continue the struggle against the Israeli occupation", in response to the American decision, to move the USA embassy to occupied Jerusalem, and the US claim that the city is the capital of Israel.

Israeli army forces stationed at watchtowers and tanks on the borders with Gaza fired live rounds at tens of Palestinian youth protesting near the borders.

Hamas Leader Ismail Hanniyeh issued a call for Palestinian across the country to begin a new intifada.

"We want the uprising to last and continue to let Trump and the occupation regret this decision", said Haniyeh. "It is an unmasked support to occupation, oppression and injustice", Haniyya added, "Jerusalem is ours, there is no West or East; it is the united Arab and Islamic capital of the state of Palestine, a state from the river to the sea".

The Israeli military responded to protests near Ramallah in the West Bank by firing tear gas and stun grenades at demonstrators, and prepared for an expected increase in violence in the coming days by ramping up its presence in the West Bank.

Under Egyptian mediation, the factions have sought to end a schism dating back to 2007, when Islamist Hamas seized Gaza in a civil war with Abbas's Fatah.
