Pochettino blames Tottenham struggles on late transfers

Tottenham made serene progress in the Champions League - taking four points from Real Madrid to top Group H - but to the detriment of their Premier League campaign.

A run of four top-flight matches without a win has seen Spurs drop to sixth and 18 points behind leaders Manchester City, although, as Mauricio Pochettino has been eager to point out, they are actually only two points worse off than at the same stage last season - such has been the devastating form of Pep Guardiola's side.

Naturally, this will generate rumours of a potential return to the Premier League for Bale, who at 28 years of age still has some of his best years ahead of him, as team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo has shown.

"We need to sign players in January and bring them in six months before", Pochettino said.

Mark Hughes insists Stoke's miserable recent record against Tottenham will not play on their minds at Wembley on Saturday. "If we wait, we are going to lose". That is an extra charge for us because not only are you competing with the opponent but with their massive motivation too.

Copies of the Duma statement were sent to the IOC, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), UNESCO, the Russian Olympic Committee (ROS) and the Russian Anti-Doping Agency.

Pochettino believes those deals were done too late and denied the players a period to adapt to their new club. "What we are working on we are going to capitalise on in the next few years for sure". "Always he keeps in contact with the people here that he worked with in the past". We can not wait to play there and make it our home and be strong there.

"Because if we don't, it's so hard it can affect the team".

"I don't have a close relationship with him or the people around him".

"I think, you know, like me, the pre-season is so important".

Defender Davinson Sanchez is suspended for the visit of Stoke following his red card against Watford last weekend.
