United Nations official visits children's food factory, hospital in Pyongyang: KCNA

The UN Under Secretary-General for Political Affairs met North Korea's Foreign Minister in Pyongyang on Thursday.

The UN Undersecretary General for Political Affairs, Jeffrey Feltman, on Saturday concluded his five-day visit to North Korea, during which both parties agreed to remain in regular contact. He arrived in Pyongyang on Tuesday for a stay expected to last four or five days.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and U.S. President Donald Trump, meanwhile, have traded insults and engaged in escalating rhetoric in recent months.

Feltman, who visited several UN-assisted health and food production facilities in North Korea, acknowledged that the sanctions imposed on the country "are negatively affecting the humanitarian assistance" and expressed his intention "to strive for cooperation in keeping with the humanitarian mission", according to KCNA.

That is an extra charge for us because not only are you competing with the opponent but with their massive motivation too. Defender Davinson Sanchez is suspended for the visit of Stoke following his red card against Watford last weekend.

The KCNA reported that North Korea told UN officials that current situation on the Korean Peninsula is due to the United States' threat and its wish to launch a nuclear attack against North Korea first.

North Korea regularly accuses the United Nations of bias, criticizing the United Nations sanctions resolutions that condemn Pyongyang's missile launches and nuclear tests.

The trip, made in response to an invitation from Pyongyang, comes almost a week after the North test-fired a new intercontinental ballistic missile it says is capable of reaching the US mainland.

According to the KCNA, Feltman recognised global sanctions against North Korea are having a negative influence on humanitarian aid there. It wasn't clear what progress, if any, was made during that visit to ease a rift that has also been widening between Beijing and Pyongyang.
