Adriana Lima decides not to pose naked for 'empty cause'

Is Adriana Lima hanging up her wings?

As noted by Elle, Adriana took to the 'gram yesterday (Saturday, December 9) to share that an inquiry about filming a "sexy video" caused her to rethink some major themes in her career.

It's unclear exactly what prompted Lima's change of heart, but it's possible she was influenced by her latest love, Turkish writer Metin Hara, to whom she's been linked since June.

The sexy supermodel announced over the weekend that she's going to take a good hard look at which jobs she chooses to be a part of, especially if they mean her taking off her clothes!

Adriana Lima declared she is done stripping down and hitting the catwalk afters years of a successful modeling career, because she doesn't want to contribute to society's pressures on women to be ideal.

The 36-year-old model went on to explain how she came to realise that living up to stereotypes perpetuated by fashion and social media can be severely damaging for women both mentally and physically. That's not physically and mentally healthy, so I chose to make that change. I will make that change.

Subway evacuated as NYPD respond to explosion in New York City
NY police said on Monday that they were responding to reports of an explosion of "unknown origin" near Times Square in Manhattan . Multiple ambulances were requested but it was not immediately clear if the explosion was caused by gas or was intentional.

"My job puts me in such big pressure to look a certain way". I thought that's not a way of living and beyond that... that's not physically and mentally healthy, so I chose to make that change.... The "empty cause" was the video shoot unrelated to the lingerie line.

"Lima included the hashtags #Embraceyourself, #NatureIsBeautiful, #NaturalIsSexy" and "LOVEYOU". Some users were posting their appreciation and support the model and her statement.

"It's not fair for us", Lima wrote.

The Victoria's Secret model said she wanted to help other women feel more confident in themselves. While many interpreted it as her quitting her Angel just ain't so.

No matter the reason for the announcement, it is incredible to see one of the world's top supermodels take such a strong stand. Call it a sign of the times.
