Gujarat results will be zabardast: Rahul

A "deeply pained and anguished" former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of spreading "falsehood and canards" in a desperate bid to win the Gujarat election and asked him to "apologize to the nation". Over 90 per cent colleges were privatised, hospital bills increased, and small traders vanished post-demonetisation and "Gabbar Singh Tax" (GST). "There is a massive undercurrent, I am actually little surprised, I had expected BJP to fight with more strength", Rahul said, adding, "Just wait, the Gujarat verdict will be zabardast".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi created waves on the concluding day of campaigning for Gujarat assembly elections, on Tuesday, as he took off on the maiden seaplane flight from Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad to Dharoi Dam in Mehsana. It will be formed on the basis of what the people of Gujarat want. The Prime Minister would return to Ahmedabad around 2.30 the same route, though it was not announced if he would conduct any more public meetings in the city or anywhere else in central and North Gujarat where the second phase of polling is to take place.

Replying a question regarding his visits to temples during Gujarat poll campaign, he said there was no ban on visiting temples.

In an interview to Gujarati news channel GSTV, Rahul Gandhi also said the BJP is not scared of him but of the voice of the people of Gujarat.

Rahul also said that the BJP and the PM made personal attacks on Congress adding that the national discourse at present is very negative. We expelled Mani Shankar Aiyar. Rejecting the charge as "innuendos and falsehoods", Singh said he was deeply pained by the prime minister's "ill thought transgression". "I am at the service of Gujarat", Rahul said.
