Giants trade Matt Moore to Texas for prospects

The Texas Rangers landed starting pitcher Matt Moore in a trade with the San Francisco Giants, the teams announced on Friday. They made major changes to their coaching staffs at every level of the organization, but the roster that lost 98 games in 2016 was largely intact.

Per John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Giants will receive prospects from the Rangers in exchange for the left-hander.

San Francisco last month exercised Moore's $7 million option for 2018. If the Rangers take all of Moore's salary for 2018, the Giants would save $9 million.

Kevin Brady, Republican chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, said he was "very excited about this moment". Remain deductible for those who itemize, and the current limitation of 50% of income is increased to 60%.

Moore, 28, was a miserable 6-15 with a 5.52 ERA last season, but he went 13-12 with a 4.08 ERA and 178 strikeouts in 2016.

Though he had a bad 2017 season, Moore, 29, fits the kind of starting pitching profile the Rangers have been seeking. "In addition, we are pleased to add two power arms to our system". Perhaps a return to the American League will turn Moore's luck around as his trade helps the Giants refuel their depleted farm system, and opens up a portion of their payroll.
