Razer's Project Linda concept docks its Android phone in the laptop

Project Linda users would simply slide their phone into a slot in the laptop's chassis where the touchpad would normally reside, turning the notebook frame into an Android-powered computer. Project Linda is essentially a laptop dock for the Razer Phone, which turns the phone into your trackpad or interactive secondary display when a mouse is connected to the system.

The brains of Project Linda is the Razer Phone, which already has some of the best specs on the market right now.

Linda has a 13.3” screen with QHD resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and HDR support, similar to the phones own screen.

Razer says the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and 8GB of RAM in the Razer Phone offer "responsive performance" when the phone is docked with the laptop. It's got 53.6 Watt-hours of capacity standard, and Razer says this can charge your phone from 0 to 100% a full three times. Still, a full keyboard a bigger screen are really nice, and Razer is looking to mix two of their most popular products together to make that happen. Razer's current prototype is created to fit the company's own smartphone, but since it connects via USB-C, Project Linda could eventually work with any phone that uses such a port, theoretically speaking.

The laptop also boasts 200GB of built-in storage, so there is some offline storage available. Connectivity afforded via Project Linda includes a built in 3.5-millimeter audio jack, a USB-A port, a USB-C charging port, 720p webcam, and a dual-array microphone, giving a range of options for communication and external devices.

Between Google's rumored new hybrid OS and accessories like Samsung's DeX, we're starting to see more manufacturers try to tackle Android as a desktop platform. It is a notebook that is able to accommodate the Razer Phone and allows you to improve your productivity and workflow with the phone docked into an empty station that is present in the notebook itself. Razer is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (Stock Code: 1337).
