The dead included five policemen, Ansari said adding that various injured had received life-threatening wounds.

The nature of the blast has not been officially confirmed yet, but local media quoted unidentified security sources as saying that a suicide bomber rammed his explosives-laden vehicle into the truck in the high security Red Zone area of the province.

A suicide bomber has killed at least six people and wounded more than 25 others in southwestern Pakistan.

Pakistani Taliban claimed the bombing in an email to dpa, warning citizens to stay away from security officials and government installations.

Later, the provincial assembly session was adjourned after Sanaullah Zehri chose to step down on the advice of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. He ruled out the impression that the terrorist had planned to attack the Balochistan Assembly and said the terrorists targeted police an hour after the assembly session had ended.
