Antonio Conte hints Chelsea wanted to make move for Virgil van Dijk

Antonio Conte says Chelsea were beaten by Liverpool to the signature of Virgil van Dijk.

A reported £75million deal for the centre-back was confirmed last month and Van Dijk promptly headed the victor in Liverpool's 2-1 FA Cup home victory over rivals Everton on his debut.

Conte also confirmed that Chelsea are still looking to sign a centre-half, and that his side were unwilling to pay more than £50m for the defender - £25m below of what Liverpool eventually paid.

The Dutch defender joined Liverpool in a £75m deal from Southampton at the start of the month, amid reported interest from Manchester City and Chelsea.

Conte revealed that he was interested in the player but like is common in football and in life, you do not succeed in landing all your top targets. The transfer market is not simple for any club.

Liverpool are also understood to be keen, despite their capture of Van Dijk, and a host of other clubs from across Europe have been linked with the defender. And they spent £75million for this player. The same time, they sold very well Coutinho because when you sell a player for this amount of money, and then you have the rest of money to invest, to improve your team.

Pokémon GO Won't Support Older iPhones and iPads in Next Update
Afterwards, Pokemon Go "may" not work on those devices, nor will players be able to access PokeCoins or use items from their bags. Older iPhone models, like the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C , will be affected by the incoming update , coming February 28th.

"But I think the transfer market is not simple, it's not simple, especially if there is this amount of money".

Despite Chelsea's failure to secure Van Dijk, their defensive record has still been impressive this season and they have conceded the second least goals of any team in the top flight.

Sanchez is out of contract at the end of the season, with Manchester City strongly linked with the Chile global, while Hazard is a reported long-term target for Real Madrid.

"This is football", Conte said, as quoted by the Independent. "But in my opinion I think Sanchez will finish the season at Arsenal".

"I said before the game that my expectations are easy to reach because I know how good he is and so I only want him to show that".

"I haven't played a game for the last three weeks; I was very happy that I got the chance and I'm very happy that we went through to the next round". He was for sure nervous but you could not see it and that's the most important thing probably, he obviously could stand the pressure.
