Calvin Ridley Declares For 2018 NFL Draft

Calvin Ridley is NFL-bound.

Ridley, who many believe is the top wide receiver prospect in this year's draft class, announced his decision with a statement on social media.

Not only is Ridley fast, but he's also a crafty route runner who knows where to find soft spots in the defense both before and after the catch. Most mock drafts peg Ridley as a first-round draft pick. One possible knock on Ridley could be the aforementioned age factor that may lead some scouts to wonder whether he has already topped out in terms of his development.

"Having been thoroughly prepared for that next step", he wrote, "I am truly ready". He finishes his career with the rolling tide with 224 catches, 2,781 yards and 19 touchdowns. "The future of this program is indeed in great hands".

None of those catches might have been bigger than his fourth-quarter touchdown catch in Monday's 26-23 national championship game win over Georgia.

Ranked No. 3 by Kiper in his draft-eligible position rankings, Payne had six tackles against Georgia in the title game, and a key interception and a touchdown reception against Clemson in the Sugar Bowl.

Alabama has several players with eligibility left who are projected high in the draft, including defensive tackle Da'Ron Payne and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.
