Meyers tears into Hollywood sex scandal in monologue — Globes

It's a move that says these women's work deserves to be recognised and celebrated as much as the actors' accompanying them, and gives women who don't usually have the world's eyes on them a platform at one of the biggest awards ceremonies of the year, with each activist joining their actor counterpart on the red carpet TV coverage.

The Golden Globes, which were hosted at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, saw the likes of Meryl Streep, Emma Watson and Kerry Washington lead stars by wearing all black for the Time's Up movement.

They are so amusing when they team up, and they basically showed everyone that they should be Golden Globes co-hosts next year.

The tone he set has stayed ever since - opening with a cutting monologue about Hollywood, often mocking numerous stars present.

"Good evening ladies and remaining gentlemen", the comedian opened.

There's a new era underway, and I can tell because it's been years since a white man has been this nervous in Hollywood.

What's more, it's also inspired other women in Hollywood to attend the ceremony with their peers.

As Meyers himself acknowledged, this was a year that might have been better served by having a woman host.

Discovery to Leave Maryland
It's anticipated that Discovery will leave its One Discovery Place headquarters building in Silver Spring in 2019. Montgomery County and the state of Maryland contributed to the renovations, Maryland through a conditional loan.

The Globes had always been the stomping grounds of disgraced mogul Harvey Weinstein, whose downfall precipitated allegations against James Toback, Kevin Spacey and many others.

Meyers went on to congratulate Insecure creator and star Issa Rae for having "three projects in development" with HBO - to which Rae responded, "yeah. and three projects is also where they think I'm from".

It wasn't long before media mogul Harvey Weinstein, who has been accused of rape and sexual assault by a string of women - and who it was sensationally speculated may make an appearance at the Globes - came under fire. "Don't worry because he'll be back in 20 year when he becomes the first person ever booed during the In Memoriam".

From the Netflix show Stranger Things, actors (left to right) Sadie Sink, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin and Noah Schnapp arrive at the awards.

"It's about people who are voiceless, and it's about empowerment", added Spencer, who is nominated for "Shape of Water". I hope he can do a southern accent because Kevin Spacey sure couldnt.

"In 2011, I told some jokes about our current president at the White House Correspondents Dinner, jokes about how he was unqualified to be president", Meyers said. "Remember that? Simpler times".

"So thank you for all the fantastic work that you've all done and continue to do", he said, "I look forward to you leading us to whatever comes next".
