Storage specialists SanDisk has taken the wraps off the world's first USB-C Type flash drive that can store 1 TB of data. Many flash devices manufacturers have introduced data storage devices with larger space and small sizes, while this gadget by SanDisk breaks the record.

However, so much for all the benefits that the prototype flash drive stands for at the moment, SanDisk is yet to confirm a definite launch schedule for the prototype flash drive.

The flash drive though is still in prototype stage, and there is no firm commitment as to when it should be ready for a market launch. This can be user's new USB type-C dongle.

Now coming to the USB 3.1 256GB flash drive, it has transfer speeds up to 15 times more than the standard USB 2.0 flash drives and it also comes with reading speed up to 130MBps.

At today's Consumer Electronics Show 2018 (CES 2018), Western Digital unveiled new and breakthrough consumer solutions that address today's personal content explosion, including voice-activated media streaming via popular Smart Home devices, the world's smallest 1TB USB flash drive and a portfolio of ultra-mobile, high-performance, wireless and high-capacity flash storage products.

Sandisk has not yet revealed the price or the availability details of the device. It's available now and comes in several different capacities: 250GB for $129.99, 500GB for $199.99, or 1TB for $399.99. It also has SanDisk SecureAccess software to keep content secure and is compatible with any USB 3.0 or 2.0 port. Sequentially, the prices of the flash drives are $149.99, $119.99, $59.99, $34.99 and $21.99. Sold under the SanDisk and WD brands, these offerings ensure that personal experiences and memories can thrive for years to come.

Western Digital also announced two new portable SSDs at CES 2018. These are aimed for photographers and drone enthusiasts.
