The Google Assistant is your personal Google.

Do you own a Google Home or other smart devices? Whatever the distinction might be, based on Google's announcement, now it's backed by the Google Assistant.

Google not only sold six million Home speakers during the holiday sales period but it has positioned the cloud technology as the one-stop shop for Google's widely-used Knowledge Graph, which encompasses everything from search to maps to shopping.

Sorted by categories, it really is a comprehensive thesaurus of all the interactions Google's useful piece of software is capable of, and it's enough to supercharge the experience of even the most devoted fans. Either way, Google Assistant was a big deal. You can also share a specific function using the included button, letting your friends know how to get better control out of their smart devices.

Later this year, meanwhile, Google Assistant will arrive on smart displays from JBL, Lenovo, LG, and Sony.

Finally, this week, Google Assistant is coming to Android Auto.

Right now, drivers are expected to pair their phones to their cars to activate the Assistant, but that may not be the case forever.

The Assistant can also help you in the auto, so that you can keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.

Android Auto is available in tens of millions of cars on more than 400 models from 40+ brands, including Ford, General Motors, Nissan, Volkswagen and Volvo.

"And soon, you'll be able to reserve a parking space with SpotHero or order your favorite handcrafted drink or food from Starbucks-all from the road", Huffman wrote. This feature is now available on cars from BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai.

Since the Assistant can do so many things, we're introducing a new way to talk about them. We're calling them Actions. However, Google announced that this feature will be coming to coming to cars from Kia and Fiat Chrysler. Those range from looking up photos with Google Photos to starting a meditation session from Headspace.

Google's also updated the directory on phones. We're always adding more Actions. Well, the voice command we use now is the only Google Now which made its debut years ago.
