The Bemidji area could see between 3 to 5 inches of new snow Wednesday night into Thursday, according to the National Weather Service office in Grand Forks, N.D., which oversees the Bemidji region. Breezy, with a south wind 17 to 22 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 33 miles per hour. Temps will be well above the freezing mark prior to midnight, so there's no chance for snow until the cold front starts to move through.

Friday's forecast calls for a mixture of rain and sleet in the morning, changing to rain and snow from noon to 2 p.m. and snow after 2 p.m.

With a stiff north wind, wind chills will dip to as low as -20° in some spots. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Winter weather advisories remain in effect for Yellowstone National Park, the Absaroka Mountains, the Salt River Mountains and the Wyoming Mountains, also through noon Wednesday.

In addition, there is a potential of gusty north winds accompanying the storm resulting in blowing and drifting snow and significantly reduced visibilities. Light and variable wind becoming west northwest around 5 miles per hour.

Right now, it looks like the heaviest rain from this system will arrive Friday night and Saturday morning as low pressure tracks over or just northwest of our area. Cloudy, with a high near 45.

Wednesday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers. "The snow does linger into Thursday morning, but really tapers off to flurries and ends by midday Thursday". Mostly cloudy, with a low aboout 7. Partly sunny, with a high near 44. Cloudy, with a low about 42.

Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 21 below. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.

Tuesday, partly sunny, with a high near 18.
