HTC Vive Gets a Hardware Revision

"Vive Pro offers an immediate upgrade for both VR enthusiasts and enterprises that want to utilize the best VR experience". This innovative design includes a built-in backplane with a small battery that incorporates all the wireless adapter components into one piece of hardware residing on top of the headset, creating a real and unique wireless solution with no extra cables.

Mr Blau told the that much of the hype around virtual reality devices had meant that the technology sometimes failed to live up to people's expectations - something he believes has impacted of VR hardware. It is interesting to note that the new Vive Pro VR headset was paired with Steam's second-generation Base Station at CES 2018.

"There's a clear need in the VR market for a premium VR experience with high resolution display, integrated audio and the best components available today in a headset", Daniel O'Brien, general manager of HTC's VIVE in the USA market, said in a statement.

Following that, Google now announced a new standalone wireless VR Headset named as Mirage Solo.

TPCAST will present and demonstrate the TPCAST Plus products at CES 2018. The said Pro version will have a pixel count of almost 80 percent higher than the core model, making the resolution 1,440 x 1,600 per panel (2,880 x 1,600 combined), which is quite a step up from the default 1,080 x 1,200 (2,160 x 1,200 together) of the standard model.

Non-Chinese users whose iCloud accounts are registered in mainland China but who aren't living in the country have another option. Other major technology companies, including Amazon and Microsoft, have also made similar deals to run data centers in China.

It has a 110-degree field of view, which puts it ahead of other mobile headsets and brings it into line with the Rift, Vive, and PSVR. The original HTC Vive only supports 1080 x 1200 pixels per eye, and to 2160 x 1200 pixels total.

The Vive Pro also features two front-facing cameras instead of the single one found on the Vive.

At this point though, there is no launch window yet for the Vive Pro VR.

Along with HTC Vive Pro debut and accessory Vive Wireless Adapter, whose task will be to ensure wireless connection with PC helmet and Vivo Vive Pro. Furthermore, the TPCast Wireless adapter requires a dedicated router (included in the box) that makes setup complicated and cumbersome, and it can interfere with your existing home network. It should go on sale worldwide in the third quarter. HTC says that the Wireless Adaptor will be available in Q3, while further availability information regarding the Vive Pro will arrive "soon" (which is as detailed as the company would get).
