It Looks Like Black Widow's Solo Movie Is Still Happening

Scarlett Johansson is set to return as Black Widow which is a role she first got in 2010 following the release of Iron Man 2.

As per Variety, Marvel has at last made a decision to pay heed to all those fans who have wondered at some point why Johansson's Black Widow character can't have her own film. Variety reports on behalf of unnamed sources that Marvel has selected Jac Schaeffer to write the movie's script after consulting with Johansson on what the team wanted in a writer.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige reportedly met with a number of candidates before deciding to offer the creative position to Schaeffer.

After years of mumbling and shuffling their feet every time the prospect of a Black Widow movie was raised, it would seem that Marvel Studios has seen the light. Marvel has yet to officially comment on the report, so it is unclear as to how accurate Variety's report is.

Schaeffer stepped into the feature film industry with her 2009 pic TiMER, which she wrote and directed.

Jac Schaeffer is an up and coming screenwriter who is known for her Black List script, "The Shower", a sci-fi/comedy about an alien invasion during a baby shower which caught the eye of Oscar-winner Anne Hathaway, who immediately sought out the project to star in it.

Black Widow is next set to appear in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, which will hit theaters on May 4, 2018. "We've announced the next nine movies... through to the end of 2019. I would say certainly the one creatively and emotionally that we are most committ [ed] to doing is Black Widow", said Feige. Tell us what you think below.

It's great to see Marvel finally diversifying its movie portfolio.
