Doug Jones is sworn in, shrinking GOP Senate majority

The Jewish attorney that Roy Moore's wife touted employing in an attempt to fight off claims of anti-semitism is actually a longtime friend and supporter of Senator-elect Doug Jones, who defeated Moore last month.

Roby publicly broke with Trump prior to the 2016 election after audio emerged of the then-GOP presidential nominee bragging about groping women. "On issues ranging from healthcare to job creation to tax reform, I am confident that Senator Jones will put the people of Alabama first".

That should be good enough for most Democrats everywhere.

Secretary of State John Merrill said that Moore's action "is not going to delay certification and Doug Jones ... will be sworn in by Vice President Pence on the third of January".

Jones declined during the campaign to say whether or not he would have supported Gorsuch. Booker traveled to Alabama during the final weekend of the campaign to stump for Jones.
