Fox Bumps Up Deadpool Sequel, Moves Back New Mutants to 2019

New Mutants, the Josh Boone-directed horror film that stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, and Charlie Heaton, has been pushed back from its original April 2018 release date all the way until February 22, 2019. First up is the highly-anticipated Deadpool 2, which moves up two weeks from June 1 to May 18.

Big moves over at Fox as the X-Men spin-off movie Gambit lost yet another director with Pirates of the Caribbean filmmaker Gore Verbinski due to "scheduling issues".

Free Association's Tatum and Reid Carolin are producing the film with X-Men overseers Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg.

You'll also have the option to play alongside friends with the Tropical Freeze co-op mode, which worked pretty well on the Wii U. Tropical Freeze , the side-scrolling platformer developed by Retro Studios , originally arrived on Wii U back in 2014.

What are the reasons for these delays exactly? Fans excited for "Deadpool 2", "New Mutants" and "Gambit" need to adjust their release calendars as the studio has done some shifting. If Bob Iger wants to merge the X-Men and Fantastic Four with the MCU, I think it would be best for Fox to put their projects on hold while waiting for Marvel's new plan on how everything should be connected. Of course, Verbinski is just the latest director to leave the project stranded, following Rupert Wyatt and Doug Liman in 2015 and 2016, respectively, so this doesn't necessarily reflect that poorly on him. You can decide whether or not you think that one's ever gonna happen; New Mutants and Deadpool 2 are sure things.

Now, last we heard, the Gambit script was being rewritten to make it "more New Orleans".

Stay tuned for more on 20th Century Fox's X-franchise as further updates become available. So much for that as it looks like the X-men themed horror flick is being pushed back a year. Perhaps this merger with Disney can't come soon enough.
