After his election in May, Macron has had tensions with gala press and has also criticized Russian official media, openly accusing RT chain of spreading false information about him during campaign for last presidential election.

"We will develop our legal system to protect democracy from this fake news", he said, quoted by AFP.

President Emmanuel Macron will meet his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in Paris on January 5 to discuss bilateral relations as well as the Middle East issues, according to French president's office.

"The freedom of the press is not a special freedom, it is the highest expression of freedom", Macron said.

"There will be increased transparency requirements for internet platforms regarding sponsored content, with the aim of making public the identity of those who place the ads and also limiting the amount of them", Macron said.

Macron's government is also planning a strategic review of the French military, a bill to better understand immigration into the country and measures to combat violence against women.
