Key update on Kenya Airways daily flights to NY

"First of all [the direct flight] is going to create more jobs in Kenya Airways because we will definitely hire more pilots and more crew".

Tickets for the flight can be purchased on the national carrier's website and through agents.

The airline will be conducting a daily flight between Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The flight duration will be 15 hours east bound and 14 hours west bound and the airline hopes to capitalise on multi-national traffic.

Economy class fliers will pay Sh89,000 both ways, CEO Sebastian Mikosz announced at the launch on Thursday, adding travellers can start making advance online bookings.

Direct flights to the United States will significantly reduce the time taken to move cargo between the USA and East Africa; from seven days to as little as a day.

Monaco don't think they can hold onto Arsenal, Liverpool target
Chelsea and Manchester United have been keeping tabs on Lemar but the Frenchman respects Liverpool's long-held interest in him. I wouldn't rule it out, but I don't see him beating down their door saying "it's now or never" because I don't think it is.

With over 40 American multinationals located in Nairobi and many more across Africa, daily flights will help to spur business travel and improve trade between America and Africa. From New-York it will depart at 1225 and land at JKIA at 1055 the following day.

The aircraft, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, will leave the Nairobi airport at 11.25 pm daily and reach John F Kennedy International Airport in NY at 6.25 am the next day.

Kenya Airways already serves Africa, Europe, Middle-East, Indian sub-continent and Asia. Though the flight will take upwards of 15 hours, in some cases, it will afford passengers much more time at their origin and/or destination.

Kenya Airways a member of the Sky Team Alliance, is a leading African airline flying to 51 destinations worldwide, 42 of which are in Africa and carries over three million passengers annually.

The onboard service is renowned and the lie-flat business class seat on the wide-body aircraft is consistently voted among the world's top 10.
