Let Ben Roethlisberger Call the Plays in the Postseason

Let Ben Roethlisberger Call the Plays in the Postseason

The Jaguars are huge, physical, and have tremendous defensive backs.

We have an AFC divisional round matchup from Heinz Field as the Jacksonville Jaguars face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers in National Football League action on Sunday afternoon.

The Pittsburgh Steelers host the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday for a chance to avenge a blowout loss the Steelers received back in October. As a matter of fact, the Jags outlasted the Steelers, 30-9, in the regular season.

They also played a majority of the game without Pro Bowl wide receiver Antonio Brown. Earlier in the season, Bortles went eight-for-14 for 95 yards and a pick when the Jaguars won 30-9 in Pittsburgh.

Blake Bortles had a breakthrough season by completing 61.4 percent of his passes for 3,529 yards and 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, and ran for 313 yards and two touchdowns. On the ground, Fournette rushed for 971 yards and nine touchdowns while Chris Ivory added 382 yards and a touchdown. If under pressure, bad Bortles throws to the wrong jerseys.

"Any game that we are going to play anybody is going to be a hard opponent", Roethlisberger said ... "Making sure that we got [Steelers safety Troy] Polamalu blocked, and I think we got that done". In 1947, the Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles finished with the same record at the end of the regular season.

Leonard Fournette has been held to a paltry 3.3 yards per carry over his last five games, below his 3.9 average over the course of the entire season. "Across the board, they are as good as we'll see", Haley said. He carried just 15 times for 47 yards against a team that came into the game ranked last in the National Football League against the rush.

Jacksonville's defense got in on the scoring mood as well by scoring on two of the five interceptions they forced Ben Roethlisberger to throw in the previous matchup. Jacksonville stunned Pittsburgh 31-29 at Heinz Field in wild-card round of 2007 playoffs.

Tyronn Lue: 'We've Got to Get Rid of Our Agendas'
Fred VanVleet continues to turn heads after notching a career high of 22 points with six three's, four rebounds and four assists. So Coach Dwane Casey sought to change things.

That win put Jacksonville above.500 and matched their win total from the previous season.

The second-seeded Minnesota Vikings-looking to become the first team to play a Super Bowl at its home stadium-will take on the high-powered New Orleans Saints, whose offense is capable of putting up points in a hurry. An argument could be made that the Steelers defense is just as good - if not better - than the Bills defense.

To combat the fearsome Jacksonville pass defense, the Steelers will need to lean on first team All-Pro running back Le'Veon Bell.

"At the end of the day, we don't win the turnover battle and we're not able to make any plays, it's very hard to win", Marrone said.

Alas, this time promises to be different, Mitchell told SI's Greg Bishop, because the team is playing for Ryan Shazier.

PREDICTION: If Roethlisberger throws five interceptions against the Jags again, he just might rekindle talk of retirement. Jacksonville lost both games. He's probably not going to do anything on the field to do it either, which should make any outside noise the afterthought Bortles suggests it is as he heads into the biggest game of his professional career. The Steelers offense as rebounded from a slow start to the year and has been very efficient the last half of the season. The Steelers defensive line is key to stopping the running game of Jacksonville. Bortles' ineffectiveness these past few games will likely continue Sunday, especially with the frigid conditions.

But for all the concern about the offense - and that concern runs deep - it only makes the Jaguars' punishing defense that much more meaningful.
