Netflix "Altered Carbon" Trailer Starring Joel Kinnaman

The man who brought him back, aristocrat Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy), has done so in order for Kovacs to solve his own murder - a plot point which has been the denouement of numerous teasing clips that Netflix has released so far.

Set in a future where humanity has spread to other planets and a person's consciousness, mind and soul, can be downloaded into a new body (aka "sleeve"), former elite soldier Takeshi Kovacs (Kinnaman) is brutally murdered, thrown into a cop's body, and in the middle of a vast political - and religious - conspiracy. This means people- mostly the wealthy- can essentially live forever. In exchange, Kovacs has to solve a murder ... that of Bancroft himself.

Ronda Rousey to WWE: Former UFC star could debut soon
Honestly speaking, Triple H and Ronda Rousey playing down talk of her rumoured WWE debut at the Royal Rumble seems to be a work. The timing increases speculation that she could be a participant in the first-ever women's Royal Rumble match in Philadelphia.

At the heart of the story is Takeshi Kovacs (Joel Kinnaman), an elite, interstellar warrior whose consciousness has been awakened for the first time in over 200 years and placed inside the body of a United States soldier.

One thing becomes immediately clear seconds into the new Altered Carbon trailer: Netflix put a lot of money into this series.

Fans of Blade Runner will notice the similarities in the aesthetic immediately and fans of Black Mirror will be interested in the concept of digitised consciousnesses which is at the very core of the plot.

The eight-episode first season is released on Netflix on Friday 2nd February 2018.
