New Switch ports and video games announced in Nintendo Direct

Following some quite frankly overwhelming and confusing reactions on the internet, we've finally received confirmation through Nintendo's Mini Direct that Dark Souls would be coming to the Nintendo Switch in the form of Dark Souls Remastered. Including a number of announcements. 2015's Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash for the Wii U was bare bones to say the least, and even its decent predecessor, Mario Tennis Open, felt lacking compared to what came before it. That and the visually impressive Kirby Star Allies. This is due out in Autumn 2018 for the Nintendo Switch. There were several nuggets of information dropped during this presentation, one of which was that PayDay 2 would be landing on the Nintendo Switch in a little over a month. Players can also use the Joy-Con controllers to try combat in an all-new way, though the Direct Mini didn't share details on how that mechanic would work.

The DK Crew will make their debut on the Switch with the release of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on May 4 2018.

On the DLC front, the free Super Mario Odyssey content addition is titled Luigi's Balloon World and comes out next month. It not now known how long she will be exclusive to the Switch version of the game. So far, the characters covered in the gameplay trailer are Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi.

We'll continue to report on the Direct Mini's news as the morning progresses. On the go, two players will be able to share Joy-Cons to participate in multiplayer co-op on a single Switch screen.

Nintendo announced a new Mario Tennis game: Mario Tennis Aces.
