'Black Panther' Featurette Introduces the Warriors of Wakanda

The heroic adventure opens on February 16, which is part of the four-day President's Day holiday weekend and adjacent to Valentine's Day which falls on a Wednesday this year, per Deadline. It's opening in February, once thought to be a dead zone for films, and it's facing very little competition for tentpole dollars.

"Black Panther's initial presales blew past mid-range expectations earlier this week", BoxOffice Pro reports. Viewing figures for "Black Panther's" first trailer last summer were so high, the teaser immediately became one of the three most-watched Marvel trailers in its first 24 hours. The third Captain America film went on to gross over $1.2 billion worldwide.

The video introduces the Dora Milaje, the all-female special forces warriors and bodyguards to new king T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman). Fans, also, seem excited to finally spend time in Wakanda on screen, though we saw it ever so briefly at the end of Civil War, when Captain America (Chris Evans) put Bucky (Sebastian Stan) on ice.
