Captain Atwal ready to deliver at EurAsia Cup

It presents a major opportunity for Dunne to showcase his matchplay credentials in front of Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjorn who also heads the European team this week.

Playing in his second EurAsia Cup, the six-time Asian Tour victor is looking forward to the clash with 12 of Europe's best players at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club.

(Back row left to right): Tommy Fleetwood, Alex Levy, Tyrrell Hatton, Paul Casey, Alex Noren, Rafa Cabrera Bello, Matt Fitzpatrick and Paul Dunne.

India's SSP Chawrasia is confident Team Asia can defy the odds when they take on Team Europe at the EurAsia Cup which starts on Friday. "I've asked him to fulfill a dual role as a senior player and he has really taken to it".

"I like match play a lot more, that's why I'm hosting my own tournament as match play, as well", said Pieters, who enjoyed a superb Ryder Cup debut at Hazeltine in 2016 as he won four of his five matches. That's something that says a lot about those 12 players in there.

European players have called for more match play events as they relish the chance for head-to-head competition at the EurAsia Cup this week.

England's Tommy Fleetwood, who finished fourth at the 2017 US Open and is the number one player on the European Tour, is the headline name on the European team.

"It's great to be involved here and I think if anyone said they weren't thinking about the Ryder Cup, even a little bit, then they would be lying", he wrote.

Dunne is now well-placed in the Ryder Cup standings at seventh in the European points list and sixth in the world points list but there is still a long way to go before the team is finalised. "I think we're in a good place with the pairings we have".

Arjun Atwal turned to close friend Tiger Woods for advice after being appointed captain of Team Asia for the upcoming third edition of the EurAsia Cup. "You can be underdogs on paper, but once the matches start, anything can happen".

The pride of Greystones (25) had a stellar record in team matchplay combat as an amateur, winning the Palmer Cup, the St Andrews Trophy and the Home Internationals in 2014 before helping Great Britain and Ireland to Walker Cup glory the following year.

Now back in the European team fold for the first time in ten years at this week's EurAsia Cup, Casey has reflected on his omission back in 2010 and said he holds no grudges against the eight-time European Tour Order of Merit victor.

'Spouse' includes same-sex partners, European Union court adviser says
They would have been compelled to do so had Mr Coman's partner been of the opposite sex. It will also ensure the term "spouse" is always seen as gender neutral by law.
