Historians are divided on whether Padmini actually existed.

Mr. Joshi said that they have approved the film and CBFC should not get involved in any controversy and he also added - "Let's refrain from utilizing CBFC's name unnecessarily". "Going by the trailer and whatever we have seen so far, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has hurt Rajput sentiments and glory".
