Combat fighter pilot joins competitive Arizona Senate race

Martha McSally Shows Off Her Pilot Skills Her action-packed announcement video trades on numerous same themes she used in her House campaigns, stressing her status of the first American female to fly in combat, winning a fight to refuse to don Muslim garb while serving in the Middle East, and as a congresswoman working to protecting funding for the locally produced A-10 fighter jet.

In announcing her bid, McSally told Washington Republicans in a YouTube video to "grow a set of ovaries" and said that she, like Trump, is exhausted of "PC politicians with their BS excuses", referring to political correctness.

"I'm a fighter pilot and I talk like one", she says.

"I told Washington Republicans to grow a pair of ovaries and get the job done", she says in the video.

McSally, who served 26 years in the USA military, also used her experience to hit out at the Democrats in the Senate in the video, saying, "after taking on terrorists in combat, the liberals in the Senate won't scare me one bit".

The U.S. Air Force Academy graduate's official biography also notes that her squadron was awarded the Air Force Association David C. Schilling Award in 2006 for their work in Afghanistan. Kelli Ward and former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee may have tipped its hand Friday on which candidate it favors, name-dropping Kirkpatrick in a tweet reacting to McSally's announcement. "Now, I am running for the Senate to fight the fights that must be won - on national security, economic security and border security".

Katyal says Trump's words "remind us again of how his un-American racist ideology impacts policy". Though Rosenstein was critical of Comey in his memo, he did not recommend Comey be fired.

"Martha McSally is Jeff Flake 2.0 and part of the Washington establishment that has failed Arizona for years", said Ward campaign chair Ed Rollins.

"My friend, Martha McSally, she's the real deal". The late former senator Barry Goldwater, R-Ariz., and Sen.

Since Flake's surprise retirement announcement, McSally has sought to raise her profile by piling up appearances on Fox News and has posted on social media pictures of herself with Trump, whom she avoided discussing throughout the 2016 elections and for months more after he entered the White House. John McCain, R-Ariz., both launched campaigns from the county's historic courthouse steps.

Several Republican political consultants said Arpaio's prolific fundraising and strong name recognition could marginalize Ward's campaign, which has targeted the same bloc of Trump voters.

"As of today, I am a candidate for the office of United States senator from Arizona". The primary also includes former state Sen. "It will drain the GOP's resources, demoralize their voters, and expose the flaws in each of their candidates", the statement reads.

Rep. Martha McSally speaks at a rally, Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, in Tucson, Ariz. She scored a decisive re-election win in 2016 over Democrat Matt Heinz.

A general-election victory by McSally, Ward or Sinema would send Arizona's first woman USA senator to Washington.
