Former Big Brother contestant Rebekah Shelton dies aged 32

Transgender Big Brother star Rebekah Shelton claims her Twitter was hacked with a fake announcement that she had died.

Former Big Brother housemate Rebekah Shelton has not died after all, following a statement appearing on her official account this morning "confirming" the news.

Shelton was said to have "died unexpectedly on Wednesday night" in a message which added: "We ask that you respect the family's privacy at this time".

Speaking in the video, Shelton said "I've been through hell today because someone used my Twitter account to write that stupid status about me".

Rebekah, formerly Rodrigo, on series 10 of Big Brother.

"This person can't accept the fact that I am happy, that I overcame all my problems".

"I'm on holiday. I'm in Arabia and I'm not dead".

"I would say think twice, go for some therapy and wait to see if you really want it".

It wasn't until five years later, in 2014, when the personality formerly known as Rodrigo underwent gender reassignment surgery to officially become Rebekah.

Giving her advice to others who may be in a similar situation, she said: "I would say to them, don't look at me and think, oh she looks incredible, I want to be like her".

But previous year, the reality star admitted she was struggling to cope with the huge transition because she felt isolated. She also briefly starred in an episode of "Hollyoaks". "At one point before my surgery I had to leave home, and for six months of my life I turned to prostitution".

Her last tweet, sent almost two months ago, featured a black and white picture of herself.

"I am the happiest I've ever been in myself, but I lost so much along the way", she told OK! magazine at the time.

She made the decision to transition to a woman in 2012.
