Pakistan claims India is 'distracting' it from counter-terrorism efforts

"A day earlier, Pakistan's Defense Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan said there is "... a wide field of intelligence cooperation and defense cooperation, which we have suspended".

Faisal said there was concern over the activities of anti-Pakistan terrorists based in Afghanistan.

The US on Wednesday expressed hope that Pakistan would "come to the table" and demonstrate willingness to "aggressively" confront terrorist groups that operate from its territory, amid reports that Islamabad has suspended its military and intelligence cooperation with America.

Ijaz Awan, a retired major general in the Pakistani military, argued that the USA has pursued a policy of "coercion" towards Pakistan and that the approach of pressure tactics will be counterproductive.

The newspaper pointed out that the flow of money to the region from the United States had shrunk in recent years, and "Pakistan is not almost as reliant on USA assistance as it has been in the past".

"Pakistan has not run out of options but it should take more steps if the US keeps on taking action against Pakistan", he added.

United States officials have said that nearly all security assistance to Pakistan has been suspended following President Donald Trump's Tweet on January 1 in which he alleged that Pakistan "gives safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan".

Mark Wahlberg reportedly demanded $1.5m before approving Christopher Plummer's casting
She had previously said of the reshoot: "I said I'd be wherever they needed me, whenever they needed me. And they could have my salary, they could have my holiday, whatever they wanted", Williams said.

In his weekly briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal said the two countries were in talks over matters of mutual interest, including security assistance, details of which can not be revealed to media just now.

Munir Ahmad, Op-Ed Writer at the Daily Times newspaper said Trump's tweet vilifying Pakistan is a terribly unusual message that shows the frustration of a person who heads a drowning super power.

He had also claimed that the "United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools". "Logistics trump strategy", he said. "The specific individual things we're doing are best handled in private, to ensure that we can be most productive - and that's what we're working now". Other possible routes that go through Central Asian countries are more expensive and pass through a region Russian Federation considers its backyard.

The development comes amid rising U.S.

But statements from senior US officials indicate that despite these limitations, the administration is serious in its stance that Pakistan needs to change its behavior.

"We always look at that", said Goldstein when asked if Washington is assessing alternative routes should Pakistan blocks supply routes to Afghanistan. Pakistan could apparently help serve this objective of the USA with the latter's lame accusations.

Khan said his country wants to keep engagement with the United States open and would use its leverage after the utmost care and deliberation.
