The NWS has issued a winter weather advisory. What does that mean?

There's a Wind Chill Advisory in effect from 9 p.m. Thursday night until 10 a.m. Friday for southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa. We saw a solid 15 degree drop in less than 1 hour in many locations as the front moved through.

In Hancock and Washington counties, the flood watch extends from Friday afternoon though Sunday morning. "Bozeman could see 1" - 3" of additional snow.

Heavy snow will then set up Friday evening, delivering anywhere from 2"-8" of snow.

Separate warnings have already been issued for Western New York and Tug Hill, and the rest of Upstate is under winter weather advisories. Rain will change to freezing rain and sleet and then snow over the duration of the storm. Rain showers will be moving through during the day Thursday and will continue on and off through Friday morning.

Antonio Brown is fully healthy, and have I mentioned that Blake Bortles is trash? This could be one of the games of the season . Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will be out to prove that 30-9 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5 was a fluke.

About 12:40 p.m., the temperature at O'Hare International Airport reached 58, just 3 degrees shy of the record high temperature for January 11 of 61 degrees, which was set in 1880, according to the National Weather Service in Romeoville. It appears the duration of the sleet/freezing rain may last a little longer west of I-65, thus our expected ice accumulation totals being slightly higher in that area. Rain can fall heavily on the morning drive, so roads will be wet and slippery for you on your drive to work on Friday morning. That could take the form of heavy sleet, snow, ice, blowing snow or a combination of those conditions. The Lake Cumberland area will also have to deal with some minor ice accumulations.

How much snow will fall, and where. The record high for the month was set on January 29, 2013, when the temperature reached 63 degrees.

Are we getting ready to have a big ice snow storm, or is it all going to blow out with the wind? Strong gusty winds will also be felt at speeds of 25-35 miles per hour.

The NWS and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet are warning travelers in the area to stay alert as the storm moves into the area. Humid air from the Gulf of Mexico will slowly begin to return Sunday, just in time for it to run headlong into a second coming cold front, predicted for late Monday.
