'X-Men' Spinoff 'Gambit' Loses Director Gore Verbinski

A Hollywood Reporter story claimed that Wyatt felt micro-managed by executives at Fox, and chose to depart the film rather than stick with something he didn't necessarily see eye-to-eye with them on.

With Gambit having now lost a third director, one wonders if the film will still proceed, and if so, how soon. That will obviously affect the film's planned release date, which is now scheduled for February 14, 2019.

Gambit is expected in theaters on June 7, 2019.

Pirates of the Carribean director Gore Verbinski has exited 20th Century Fox's X-Men spin-off Gambit, according to Deadline.

At this point, I'm starting to wonder if we're ever going to see this film. "We were trying to do some things that we actually weren't allowed to do, and they just smashed down the doors, so we're giving it a bit of a rethink". He was preceded by directors Doug Liman and Rupert Wyatt, both of whom cited scheduling conflicts as well in their departures. He is known for his ability to create and manipulate pure kinetic energy. It then brought in Gore Verbinski to take over director duties, but now it will need to find someone else to take the film to the finish line. In addition, he's a ladies man and proud Louisianan who is an expert in card-throwing and the use of a bo staff. It has been in development since Grover Cleveland was in office (the first time).
