Barcelona's Turan returns to Turkey on loan

Barcelona's Turan returns to Turkey on loan

Barcelona have reached an agreement for Arda Turan to return to Turkey with Istanbul Basaksehir on a two-and-a-half year loan deal, the club confirmed on Saturday.

At first it was established that the Turkish player was going to leave on loan for a season and a half, but they agreed to extend the assignment for an extra season.

Turan joined Barcelona in 2015 from Atletico Madrid for £24.2m but with the arrival of club-record signing Philippe Coutinho, the 30-year-old has made a decision to pursue first-team opportunities in Turkey.

Barcelona still have the option to sell Turan in any transfer window during the loan period, which is to conclude around the time that the midfielder's five-year contract ends.

This week, the Turkish Super Lig leader stated that a move for Arda was close to being finalised.

Basaksehir will pay Barca in variables dependent on a number of factors, including appearances and goals, as well as the team's success with Turan at the club.

He leaves Spain having won two league titles, three Copa del Rey trophies and a Europa League.

He signed in the summer of 2015 but couldn't debut until 2016 because Barcelona was serving a Federation Internationale de Football Association ban for registering new players.
