Bill Murray makes surprise 'SNL' appearance as Steve Bannon

Much was made in the past week over quotes in Wolff's book by former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon that defamed the Trump family.

The show had always been portraying Bannon as the Grim Reaper and Murray debuted his Bannon character as the face under the ghoulish shroud.

The sketch began with Kate McKinnon and Alex Moffat reprising their creepy/sexy sendup of a smoldering - if conflicted - Mika Brzezinski and constantly interrupting Joe Scarborough of MSNBC's "Morning Joe".

But the stars were SNL alumni Fred Armisen and Bill Murray.

Murray portrayed Bannon as a self-aggrandising mess with blotchy skin and wearing multiple layers, clinging to power after being dumped by the Trump administration for criticising Mr Trump's children in Mr Wolff's book.

He reminded viewers that he still posed a threat as a political meddler. "I'm a celebrity so I'm qualified", said Jones as Winfrey before adding that there's only one job in the world more powerful than president and that's being Oprah.

YouTube also said it would not feature Paul in the fourth season of its series " Foursome " and would put other work on hold. YouTube said on Twitter this week that critics were right to be frustrated by its initial lack of response.

Then Murray chimed in as Bannon revealing the other projects he has in pipeline after being fired from White Hosue and later leaving Breitbart.

Murray's Bannon did not stop there.

"I thought I smelled lavender and money", said Brzezinski.

The book features Bannon's scathing comments about Donald Trump Jr calling his meeting with the Russian lawyer during the 2016 presidential election campaign as "treasonous" and "unpatriotic".
