Ellen DeGeneres Pays Tribute to Her Father, Who Passed Away This Week

"We are heartbroken over the loss of lives in our community", said "The Big Lebowski" star. DeGeneres revealed that her dad was 92-years-old and devout Christian Scientist. "That is my dad, Elliot".

The "Finding Dory" actress also shared that her father "was very funny" and she believes that she and her brother, Vance, 'got our sense of humor from him'. After everything we've been through, I think a lot of people thought they were just being overly cautious but exactly what they feared happened. "And he lived to be 92", she added.

DeGeneres broadcast the FaceTime call on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" where she described the experiences of the "tight-knit" community where 17 people have died and as of late Thursday eight people were still unaccounted for. Ellen explained her dad as being one of the most non-judgmental people out there, and before he passed away, she got to say "goodbye to him".

Ellen shared the news with her audiences on Thursday, she that her father has died earlier this week.

She celebrated her father's long life and lack of judgemental attitude, calling him a "kind and accepting man". On Instagram, she wrote: "This week, at the age of 92, my father, Elliott DeGeneres, passed away. He was really proud of that". 'We came to this lot, to the Warner Bros. lot. Studios. He loved this business.
