Now LG Electronics once again took the next developmental step to this quintessential living room appliance with a new 65-inch 4K OLED screen that can be rolled up like a newspaper.

However this isn't the real point of Samsung's big new HDR 4K TV and its 146 inch screen, No, what Samsung really wants from such a massive piece of home entertainment technology lots of attention to its size during a major consumer electronics event (VES 2018), so that the company can then showcase all the cool new display technologies that "The Wall" comes with and let buyers judge for themselves if they'd be willing to pay premium prices for the same things in the more ordinary-sized 4K HDR TVs that emerge in 2018 and maybe 2019.

It's not known when the TV will appear in shops or interior design shows, however, as LG Electronics Australia marketing manager Angus Jones said the Display arm of LG operated separately from TV sales.

MicroLED is based on Samsung's Cinema Screen technology, designed for movie theaters. What we saw was a TV that did something that would make even the cynical AV enthusiast's heart flutter: it very successfully converted low-resolution content into 8K UHD using the world's most advanced upscaler. Not because we don't want to, but because Samsung simply isn't ready to reveal that information. It's billed as the first consumer modular MicroLED television or, for the layman, "The Screen of the Future".

Photos of The Wall at CES are posted below. The name of the TV itself, however, is entirely appropriate: The Wall. Likewise, the TV can also lower even further to offer just enough space for news updates, weather, or other info. It can transform into any size, and delivers incredible brightness, colour gamut, colour volume and black levels. In other words, aside from its ridiculous size, The Wall is as close to the ideal new TV as we've seen so far from any brand.

Amazon's voice AI Alexa managed to dominate the entire event by being integrated into so many devices than you could probably count.

Samsung unveiled "The Wall" during CES 2018, promising the world's first consumer modular MicroLED television.
